Centrifugal Sifter with Special Plate Screen Sifts Up To 8 TPH
C. A. Calidrat, Estado Aragua, Venezuela, has increased its capacity to separate over-size particles of limestone from granular limestone. The company faced two difficulties with a large rotary tumbler screener it had been relying on. The sifting capacity was too limited to meet increasing market demand. In addition, 70% of good product was going into the reject stream, wasting large amounts of useful product.
In an effort to resolve these problems, Calidrat installed a Kason CENTRI-SIFTER Centrifugal Sifter. This special unit has two parallel screening chambers with perforated metal plate screens, each having apertures of 1.13 millimeters. The unit operates at 8 tons per hour (TPH). This centrifugal sifter relies on rotating paddles inside the screen basket. They propel particles through the screen while rejecting oversize pieces. CENTRI-SIFTER units are compact and totally enclosed.
When the CENTRI-SIFTER was delivered at the customer's request, 304 stainless steel wire screens were installed to see if they would withstand the impact from abrasive granular limestone. The continuous high impact was too much. Kason's International Sales Manager visited the plant to resolve this problem. He concluded that the locally manufactured perforated plate screens would be more cost effective and require less time for changing. Arrangements were made with a local fabricator to produce perforated plate screens. As a result, uptime is extended and labor costs are lower.
With the CENTRI-SIFTER operating well, Calidrat has minimized the amount of good product from escaping with the oversize stream, contributing to profits. In addition, the company can meet market demand far more quickly than was possible with the old rotary tumbler screen.
In addition to conventional screens and perforated metal plate screens, Kason offers wedge wire screens too. If having to re-screen materials from centrifugal sifters that were equipped with conventional nylon or 304 stainless steel screens that failed is an unwelcome nightmare, the Kason profile wire screen basket may solve this problem. The wire screen stands up to impacts and dense materials with sharp or angular edges. The profile wire screen provides almost infinite screen life and unmatched reliability in the screening process.
