Polyphosphate Helps Keep Screen Wire Clean

When one of our customers who clarifies electrolytic cell brine , experienced blinding caused by deposition of calcium and sulfate ions on the screen wires, a Separator Engineering applications engineer suggested using a few parts per million of polyphosphate. It inhibits the troublesome deposition and as a result, blinding is reduced and screen life has increased.
The particulars of this application are: the customer uses 48 in. diameter Kason Kascade Decks to handle a high volume of abrasive un-dissolved solids in the brine mud, screen mesh size is 80 or 100 mesh MG, and a special rubber Flex Sweep help to keep the screen top side clean.
The entire unit is Type 316 stainless steel and the outer a 60 in. dust cover that encloses the entire operation. Since this customer is satisfied with the operation he has advised us that he will purchase additional identical equipment to expand his brine mud clarification operation.
